Walt Disney World's October 2026 closures: Carousel of Progress, the Railroad, La Signature and Typhoon Lagoon
Four closures affect Walt Disney World trips in October 2026: Carousel of Progress and the Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom, the La Signature shop at EPCOT, and Typhoon Lagoon. Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom have no major attraction refurbishments scheduled, though construction walls still cover large areas of both.

Four closures shape a Walt Disney World trip in October 2026: Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress and the Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom, the La Signature shop in EPCOT's France pavilion, and Typhoon Lagoon. Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom have no major attraction refurbishments on the October calendar, though construction still walls off large parts of both.

Key Details
- Month: October 2026
- Closures at: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Typhoon Lagoon
- No major refurbishments: Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom
- Also this month: The 55th anniversary celebration that began October 1, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival
The Buzz
Closure lists are one of the first things October planners check, and this month stacks several long closures on top of major construction at three of the four theme parks.
Magic Kingdom: Carousel of Progress and the Railroad are both closed
Two Magic Kingdom classics are offline in October, one until next spring and one until the month's final days.
- Carousel of Progress. Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress in Tomorrowland closed in July for one of the biggest updates in its history and stays closed all month.
- Carousel's return. Disney is targeting late spring 2027, with scenes set in the 1960s, the 1980s, 1999 and a possible future.
- Walt joins the show. The refreshed attraction adds a Walt Disney Audio-Animatronic figure to its opening.
- Railroad down. The Walt Disney World Railroad closed September 28 for refurbishment and is listed on Disney's calendar to reopen October 30.
- Shuttle mode. When it returns, the train keeps running only between Main Street, U.S.A. and Fantasyland.
- No Frontierland stop. Frontierland Station stays out of service while construction continues nearby on Piston Peak, the Cars-themed area, and the future Villains Land.
EPCOT: La Signature is closed in the France pavilion
EPCOT's listed October closure is a World Showcase shop rather than an attraction.
- Closed since June. La Signature, the France pavilion shop known for Guerlain fragrances, cosmetics and beauty products, closed for refurbishment in June 2026.
- Past Halloween. Disney's calendar keeps it closed beyond October 31, with a reopening expected later in 2026.
- Guerlain nearby. A selection of Guerlain products is available at Plume et Palette, another shop in the France pavilion.

Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom: no major refurbishments, plenty of walls
Neither park has a major attraction refurbishment scheduled for October, but construction still shapes both.
- Animation is back. The Magic of Disney Animation opened at Hollywood Studios on September 14, with character experiences, drawing activities and an indoor playground in the former Animation Courtyard.
- Monstropolis rising. Construction continues on Monstropolis, the Monsters, Inc. land replacing Muppet*Vision 3D and the surrounding Muppets and Grand Avenue area.
- DinoLand is gone. At Animal Kingdom, a large section of the park stays closed while Tropical Americas replaces the former DinoLand U.S.A.
Both projects carry 2027 dates: Tropical Americas brings Encanto and Indiana Jones attractions to Animal Kingdom, and Monstropolis is due the same year, so neither set of walls is coming down soon.
Water parks: Typhoon Lagoon closed, Blizzard Beach open
October is a one-water-park month at Walt Disney World.
- Typhoon Lagoon closed. Typhoon Lagoon stays closed for its annual refurbishment through all of October.
- Blizzard Beach open. Blizzard Beach is open for the season, so it is the only Disney water park available this month.
Railroad back October 30, and Tiana's Bayou Adventure closes November 2
The month ends with one reopening and, right after it, the next big Magic Kingdom closure.
- Tiana's next. Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom closes November 2 for its first refurbishment since it opened.
- Schedules can shift. These are the closures Disney has scheduled; any ride can also go down unexpectedly on a given day.
- Check the app. The My Disney Experience app shows current closures, reopening dates and showtimes during your visit.
Our take. If the Railroad matters to your plans, put Magic Kingdom days on October 30 or later, and treat any Typhoon Lagoon plans as Blizzard Beach plans. Arriving at the very start of November? Ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure by November 1.
