Where these numbers come from

We poll the posted standby wait for every operating attraction on a fixed interval throughout each park's operating day and keep the readings. The posted wait is what Disney displays at the entrance to the queue, so it is what you would have seen standing there. It is a published estimate rather than a stopwatch measurement, and Disney rounds it, which is worth knowing before treating any single reading as exact.

The averages on each park page are computed from those stored readings, grouped by hour and by day of week, so a "typical Tuesday at 2pm" figure reflects the Tuesdays we have actually recorded rather than a projection. Attractions that have not accumulated enough readings to say anything meaningful are left out instead of being shown with a thin average.

How to use it

Hour-by-hour averages are most useful for ordering your day: the same ride can swing widely between park open and mid-afternoon, and the shape of that curve is far more stable than any single day's numbers. The best-time-to-visit pages work at the other scale, comparing crowd levels across weeks and seasons for trip planning.

Wait times are not a substitute for Disney's own app on the day of your visit. Refurbishments, weather closures, and capacity changes move the numbers, and we are reporting what was posted, not predicting what will be.
