Scarecrows in retired cast costumes take over Town Square as Magic Kingdom turns for fall
Magic Kingdom has installed large jack-o'-lanterns at the park gates and a set of seven themed scarecrows in Town Square, each with a carved pumpkin head and each costumed as a different Main Street trade, several based on uniforms those locations no longer use. Installation continues ahead of the first Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on August 7.
Magic Kingdom has finished the second wave of its fall installation, and Town Square now holds a set of scarecrows dressed as Main Street tradespeople, each with its own carved jack-o'-lantern head. Large pumpkins have also arrived at the park gates, three days before the first Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of the year.

Pumpkins at the gates
Two large jack-o'-lanterns now sit in the central flowerbed at the Magic Kingdom entrance, mounted on crates of hay with smaller pumpkins scattered through the plants around them. They are the first thing a guest sees before tapping in.
Inside the park, more stacked jack-o'-lanterns sit on crates outside the Chamber of Commerce and in front of Town Square Theater, and another pair of stacks frames the Cinderella Castle photo spot at the front of the square.
Seven scarecrows, one per Main Street trade
The scarecrows are the reason this year's installation is worth walking slowly. Each flowerbed in the centre of Town Square holds one, each has a uniquely carved jack-o'-lantern head, and each is costumed as a different Main Street role. Several are dressed in costumes that Main Street locations no longer use, which makes the set quietly nostalgic.

- A Main Street citizen in a purple dress, carrying a parasol and a small purse
- A member of the Main Street Philharmonic, in a red marching band uniform, holding a baton
- A Main Street Confectionery clerk in a yellow dress and white apron, with a candy apple in one hand and a bitten lollipop in the other, based on the location's former costumes
- A baker, with a torn bag of sugar spilling onto the ground
- A Casey's Corner ballplayer, in a baseball uniform based on the old Casey's Corner costumes
- An Emporium shopkeeper in a blue and brown plaid skirt and white blouse, holding a Mickey scarecrow doll of her own
Wreaths, garland and bunting along Main Street
The rest of the installation is quieter and easy to walk past. Autumnal garland now runs across the entrance to the Chamber of Commerce with two fall wreaths hung in the windows. More wreaths sit in the archways of City Hall. A strip of garland runs above the fire station entrance with a wreath above the side door, and a trio of wreaths hangs on the back of the Main Street train station, with autumnal decorations added to the lamps below.
That follows the autumnal bunting and the See Ya Real Soon pumpkins already installed at the train station earlier in the season.
The Buzz
Magic Kingdom's fall decorations go up in stages rather than overnight, and the Town Square scarecrows are the piece guests wait for. This year's set costumes each one as a different Main Street trade, several of them in uniforms those locations retired years ago, which is the kind of detail that gets noticed and photographed. Installation is not finished, so anyone visiting this week is seeing a park mid-change.
What this means for guests
None of this needs a party ticket. The gates, Town Square and Main Street decorations are up for every day guest, and they will stay through the fall season. Disney has said installation continues over the coming days, so a guest visiting this week may find pieces going in that are not there yet in the morning. The first Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party of 2026 is on Friday, August 7.
