The Florida developments join a resort that already includes four of the most popular theme parks in the world, two water parks, more than 29,000 hotel rooms, a sports complex, four golf courses, and Disney Springs. At Magic Kingdom specifically, the new additions celebrate the broad appeal of both Disney Villains and Disney and Pixar's Cars — and together they represent the largest expansion in the park's history.

A Land Built for the Villains

Walt Disney Imagineering is developing a new Villains land in the Magic Kingdom that brings to life stories from Disney's most iconic bad guys. The area will feature two major attractions, immersive dining, and themed retail, giving guests bold new ways to step into the darker side of Disney storytelling.

Piston Peak National Park

Continuing the sweeping storytelling that has stretched across Liberty Square and Frontierland since opening day, Piston Peak National Park drops guests into the Disney and Pixar Cars universe. Visitors will explore a lodge, Ranger HQ, trails and more, all wrapped around two new Cars-themed attractions.

Guests will soon see Walt Disney himself brought to life through Audio-Animatronics technology in Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress. Welcome to Monstropolis

A brand-new land themed to Pixar Animation Studios' Monsters, Inc. will let guests wander the streets alongside their favorite monsters. This living, breathing — and not-at-all-scary — area picks up after the events of the film, in a world where monsters now need laughter to power the city. The land will feature a Monsters, Inc.-themed suspended coaster, a theatrical experience, and themed shopping and dining.

More Florida Magic: Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and the Grand Floridian

A new land, The Walt Disney Studios, will open at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Housed in a building reminiscent of the iconic Roy E. Disney Animation Building on the Burbank studio lot — complete with Mickey's Sorcerer Hat — it will include an upcoming family experience, "The Magic of Disney Animation," based on the Emmy Award-winning short film Once Upon a Studio.

Tropical Americas Arrives at Animal Kingdom

Set to open in 2027, Tropical Americas is a new land coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom. Shanghai Disney Resort Keeps Growing

Opened on June 16, 2016, Shanghai Disney Resort is home to Shanghai Disneyland, themed hotels, the Disneytown shopping and dining district, and Wishing Star Park. Its next wave of growth starts with a new Spider-Man-themed land — the resort's ninth themed land and third major park expansion — anchored by the park's first major Super Hero attraction, a high-energy thrill coaster, alongside Spider-Man-themed shopping, dining, and entertainment.

The resort also announced a third themed hotel, its design an homage to Shanghai's early-20th-century architectural legacy and true to the resort's principle of being "authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese."

A fourth themed hotel is on the way as well, paired with a vibrant extension of Disneytown's shopping, dining, and entertainment. Located just steps from the park entrance, it is designed as a gateway to the resort's adventures.

Shanghai Disneyland is also expanding its iconic Soaring Over the Horizon attraction to significantly increase daily capacity on one of the park's most popular experiences.

Tokyo Disney Resort Reimagines Tomorrowland

Opened in April 1983 as the first Disney theme park outside the United States, Tokyo Disney Resort sits just 12 kilometers from central Tokyo and holds two theme parks and five Disney-branded hotels.
