Key Details
- Who: Mark Silverman, Rod Serling's voice on Tower of Terror
- Visit: Walt Disney Imagineering, October 2026
- Ride status: Operating, with an exterior refresh under way
The Buzz
Fans read Silverman's reply as a hint that Tower of Terror was getting new Serling lines, and the idea spread quickly before he said the visit was about something else.
How a "could be" started the Tower of Terror talk
A fan's question on Silverman's post about the visit drew a teasing answer that many read as a hint.
- The question. A fan asked on his post, "Are we getting to hear something new from you at Disney?!"
- His answer. Silverman replied, "well... could be," naming no project, park or timeline.
- Why fans looked here. His best-known role is Serling's narration at the end of Sunset Boulevard.
- No announcement. Disney has not announced any show changes at Tower of Terror.

Disney has not said what brought Silverman to Imagineering. His later statement rules out the attraction, so whatever he may be recording, it is not new Tower of Terror narration.
Where Serling's voice is heard on the ride
Serling hosts the attraction from the library pre-show to the elevator, so any new lines would be hard to miss.
- Library pre-show. Serling welcomes guests from the library television before they head deeper into the hotel.
- In the elevator. He speaks again inside the elevator before the doors open onto the fifth dimension.
- Archival footage. Serling died in 1975, so Imagineers paired archival footage of the Twilight Zone creator with new narration.
- Casting approval. Silverman won the role with the approval of Serling's widow, Carol Serling.
- Other Serling work. He recorded lines for the Disney California Adventure version and voiced Serling on the 2019 Twilight Zone revival.
The real change at the Hollywood Tower Hotel is on the outside
This year's visible work has been an exterior refresh, and Tower of Terror has stayed open throughout.
- Scaffolding. It climbed the southeast side this summer and reached the front of the tower below the hotel sign in August.
- Re-aged facade. Scenic painters have re-aged the pink stucco, teal shutters and rust streaks by hand.
- Purple scar. The facade's purple lightning scar is being repainted in its opening day color.
- 30th anniversary. In July 2024, lightning scorch marks and mood lighting returned to the lobby and the hallway past the library.
Our take. Nothing has been announced inside the ride, so expect the same Serling narration on your next visit. The change you can see is outside, and it continues while Tower of Terror operates.
