Cosmic Rewind's pre-show at EPCOT now glitches past the question guests kept heckling
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind's first pre-show at EPCOT has been edited so the video feed glitches straight past Centurion Tal Marik's question about what EPCOT's visitors call themselves. The pause that invited crude shouted answers is gone, the latest in a year of changes to how the attraction moves its crowds.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT has a new edit in its first pre-show. Centurion Tal Marik still asks what the people of EPCOT call themselves, but the video feed now "glitches" and cuts straight to his next line, removing the pause guests had been filling with crude answers.

Key Details
- Attraction: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, World Discovery, EPCOT
- In use by: October 4, 2026
- What changed: The pause after Tal Marik's question in the first pre-show
- Still open: What an August construction permit at the attraction covers
The Buzz
Video of the edited pre-show circulated on social media on October 5. The shouted answers had become a running complaint about evening rides, so a quiet fix from Disney got noticed fast.
What changed in the first pre-show
Disney cut the pause that turned Tal Marik's rehearsal gag into an open invitation to shout.
- The setup. Glenn Close's Nova Prime, leader of the Nova Corps, opens the pre-show before Terry Crews' Centurion Tal Marik rehearses on camera, unaware he is already live.
- The question. Tal Marik tries out names for EPCOT's visitors, such as "EPCOT-ians" and "Citizens of EPCOT," then asks someone off camera what they call themselves.
- The old pause. A beat of silence followed, and guests filled it with answers like "drunks" and "day drinkers," sometimes several at once.
- The new glitch. The feed now glitches right after the question and jumps to his next line, leaving no gap to answer into.

Some fans argue the pause was written as a prompt all along. Either way, the edit removes the cue, and anyone who still shouts now talks over Tal Marik's next line instead of into silence.
A year of changes to the Cosmic Rewind queue
The pre-show edit is the latest of several attempts to ease crowding inside the attraction.
- Late summer 2025. Cast Members split the pre-show rooms, sending standby guests left and Lightning Lane guests right with a few stanchions; the test was dropped.
- Earlier in 2026. A brief test had Cast Members in the final pre-show release guests by side in makeshift lines.
- The usual flow. For most of the past year, standby and Lightning Lane guests have merged in the first holding room, then filled the Big Bang and teleportation pre-shows freely.
- Rush to the right. In the teleportation room, about three-quarters of guests typically crowd a quarter of the space near the exit doors.
- Middle doors closed. Disney now blocks the middle doors out of the Nova Corps pre-show, so two lines form toward the load area, often with a Cast Member between them.

That crush by the doors gets rougher later in the day, when alcohol is more of a factor.
An August permit naming Coastal Steel is still unexplained
A construction filing could point to physical queue changes, but nothing confirms that yet.
- General Construction filing. Walt Disney World filed a construction permit with Orange County in August for "General Construction" at the attraction.
- The contractor. The filing lists Coastal Steel, a contractor that has worked on several Walt Disney World attractions.
- Filed by facilities. Facilities Asset Management, not Walt Disney Imagineering, filed it, which may mean routine work on the coaster rather than anything guests will see.
A lasting fix could mean replacing the closed middle door with a built-in funnel that merges the two lines without Cast Members. That would likely need at least a brief closure of one of EPCOT's most popular rides, and Disney has announced none.
Riding Cosmic Rewind now: the shouting cue is gone, the door crush is not
The edit fixes one annoyance, but how you leave the teleportation room still shapes the ride.
- Two load platforms. Cosmic Rewind loads from a dual platform with two lines on each side, so leaving the pre-show first does not mean boarding first.
- Luck over speed. Rushing out first saves a few minutes at best and sometimes nothing, because the side you are assigned and how your party is grouped matter more.
- Empty vehicles happen. When pre-shows cycle slowly, the ride sometimes dispatches empty vehicles in the gap between groups.

Our take. Stand on the left side of the teleportation room, watch the pre-show, and let the rush go by: with two load platforms, you give up little or no time. If the shouting is what you want to avoid, ride earlier in the day, before the evening crowd builds.
