Photographers cluster around the headline icons, so you can count on finding one near Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom, Spaceship Earth at EPCOT, the Tree of Life at Animal Kingdom and the Millennium Falcon at Hollywood Studios, with dozens of smaller scenic stops in between.
Cinderella Castle is one of the most photographed backdrops on property, and it recently returned to a classic color scheme after months of overnight repainting work. Disney documented the whole job, down to the final piece of gold trim, in a behind-the-scenes video.
Magic Shots
Ask any park photographer about Magic Shots, a PhotoPass exclusive with more than 100 digital effects added after the fact. Depending on the location and season, that might mean a floating character, a burst of pixie dust or a holiday overlay dropped into your photo.
PhotoPass also covers many character greetings, so the hugs and high-fives get captured without handing your phone to a cast member.
Photos and videos on the rides
More than a dozen attractions capture on-ride photos and videos, and the newest ones go beyond the standard drop shot. Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin logs your mission score and rank, and Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets hands back concert-style posters. Disney says more ride-photo features are on the way.
Capture Your Moment
If you have time to spare, Capture Your Moment is a booked 20-minute private session with a PhotoPass photographer and the park as your backdrop, aimed at first visits, birthdays and graduations. Sessions run at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, with separate bookings available inside Batuu at Galaxy's Edge.
Sit-down sessions at the resort hotels
For something more involved, Signature Portrait Sessions: Resorts is a longer all-inclusive shoot at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa or Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Each session includes up to 40 minutes of photo capture and consultation time, access to props, retouching and photo downloads, led by specially trained photographers and assistants. Sessions can be booked online or in the My Disney Experience app up to 60 days in advance.
The walk-up studio at Disney Springs
The Disney PhotoPass Studio in the Disney Springs Marketplace is an indoor, walk-up option with no reservation required and no charge to shoot. It rotates props, virtual backdrops and seasonal sets through the year, and Disney has hinted at new ways to step into favorite Disney stories there soon.
Getting your photos home with Memory Maker
Once photos are taken they flow into your PhotoPass gallery for individual purchase, but the value play is Memory Maker, which unlocks unlimited downloads of every photo and video from the trip. Buying it before you travel rather than during the visit saves $25.
