Scat Cat's Club Cafe and Scat Cat's Club Lounge at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter close for refurbishment on October 6, 2026. Scat Cat's Club at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter is closing for refurbishment on October 6, 2026, both the cafe and the lounge at once. The cafe is expected to reopen in December; the lounge will not be back until January 2027. The resort's Mickey-shaped beignets are not going anywhere, though. Disney is moving beignet and coffee service to Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory for the duration, and a temporary bar will cover evenings.

Key Details

Two closures, two reopening dates

Scat Cat's Club is two spaces that share the French Quarter lobby: the grab-and-go cafe that sells the resort's beignets and specialty coffees, and the lounge next to it that does evening cocktails and live jazz. Both close on October 6. The cafe's refurbishment is the shorter job, with a December reopening planned. The lounge is scheduled to stay shut through the holidays and into January 2027, a month or more longer than the cafe.

Disney has not said what the work will change in either room. Scat Cat's Club has been the fixture of the French Quarter lobby for years, so anything from a full redesign to a mechanical refresh is possible. The multi-month timeline suggests more than a repaint.

Where the beignets go

Beignet and coffee service shifts to Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, the resort's quick-service food court a short walk from the lobby. The same Mickey-shaped beignets and the specialty coffee menu are expected there for the length of the cafe closure, so guests who book French Quarter for the beignets will still get them, just from a different counter. The Ghoulish Delight beignet, the cookies-and-cream version with a marshmallow creme drizzle, will also be sold at Sassagoula Floatworks, but only through November 1, when the Halloween treat ends its run.

The practical change is for the morning crowd: the coffee-and-beignet run that used to happen in the lobby will now share a line with the food court's breakfast service.

A temporary bar for the long lounge closure

Because the lounge will be out much longer than the cafe, Disney is setting up a temporary bar near the cafe. It will operate from 5 to 11 p.m., giving guests somewhere to get an evening drink while the lounge is closed into 2027. Disney has not described what the temporary bar will serve, or whether the lounge's live music will continue anywhere during the closure. The bar will presumably need to stay in place after the cafe reopens in December, since the lounge's refurbishment runs at least another month past that.

New Orleans at Walt Disney World

Port Orleans - French Quarter is the smaller of the two Port Orleans resorts and the one modeled on the French Quarter itself, with wrought-iron balconies, a Mardi Gras-themed pool and the beignets as its signature snack. Scat Cat's Club takes its name from the trumpet-playing alley cat in The Aristocats. The resort shares its New Orleans setting with Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom, the Princess and the Frog flume that replaced Splash Mountain in 2024, which is why the two are often paired on a French Quarter guest's park day.

The Buzz

The Mickey beignet is the reason a lot of guests pick French Quarter over its sister resort, so a closure notice for Scat Cat's Club reads at first like a closure notice for the beignets. The relocation to Sassagoula Floatworks is the detail that calmed things down, and the January 2027 date for the lounge is the one that raised eyebrows: that is a long time for a resort lobby to be without its bar.

October 6 is the last day at the cafe until December

Guests with French Quarter stays this fall should plan on Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory for beignets and coffee from October 6 onward, and on the temporary bar near the cafe for evening drinks from 5 to 11 p.m. The cafe should be back in December and the lounge in January 2027; Disney has not given exact dates for either. Anyone who wants the Ghoulish Delight beignet has until November 1, wherever it is being sold.
