Walt Disney World's refurbishment calendar now lists Tiana's Bayou Adventure reopening Friday, December 18, after a closure that starts November 2. The ride stays down through Thanksgiving week, and its exit shop, Tiana's Bayou General, closes with it.

When the closure first appeared, Disney listed only a December return. Holiday travelers now know the ride should be running for Christmas week.

What the December 18 date means for holiday trips

The ride misses Thanksgiving but should be running for the busiest weeks of the holiday season.

Thanksgiving week. Tiana's Bayou Adventure stays closed through Thanksgiving on November 26.
Christmas week. Guests visiting December 18 or later can plan to ride, including Christmas week, though dates can always change.
Exit shop closes. Tiana's Bayou General, the ride's exit gift shop, closes alongside the attraction.
Critter Co-Op open. The Critter Co-Op shop stays open during the refurbishment.

When Disney first put the closure on the calendar, it listed only a reopening sometime in December. The December 18 date replaces that window.

Why Tiana's Bayou Adventure needs the downtime

This is the ride's first refurbishment since it replaced Splash Mountain in 2024.

Opened in 2024. Tiana's Bayou Adventure opened in Frontierland on June 28, 2024, replacing Splash Mountain.
Over two years. The ride has operated for more than two years without an extended closure.
Water ride upkeep. As a flume ride it needs routine maintenance, and its Audio-Animatronics and other effects have struggled since opening.

Frontierland options while Tiana's is closed, November 2 to December 17

Frontierland still has a headliner during the closure, with more change coming to this corner of Magic Kingdom.

Big Thunder is back. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopened in May after its own lengthy refurbishment.
Piston Peak nearby. Construction on Piston Peak National Park continues in the former Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island area.
A new waterway. Disney has said Piston Peak includes a waterway running past Tiana's Bayou Adventure toward the Frontierland boardwalk.

Our take. If your trip falls between November 2 and December 17, make Big Thunder Mountain Railroad your Frontierland priority; if you arrive December 18 or later, ride Tiana's early in the day, before holiday crowds build.
