What the fall re-theme adds
The once-white support pillars are now wrapped in brown to read as tree trunks, with branches of orange leaves scattered around them. Small furry animal figures have been added into the scene, including an owl. It is a wrap-and-dress job rather than a rebuild, which is exactly how this playground has been handled since it opened.
Work is not finished. Construction noise and activity are still visible through the scrim, and the acorn seating that guests remember from last year's Harvest Hollow is being put back. The playground closed earlier this month specifically for this changeover.
A playground built to be re-themed
The playground went in during 2025 and has been re-dressed repeatedly since, which is unusual for a permanent EPCOT structure. The pillars, the surfacing and the play equipment stay; the theming layer on top rotates with the festival calendar. That is why a change like this takes a few weeks of closure rather than a construction cycle.
Its placement matters too. Sitting on the walkway between the Imagination! pavilion and World Showcase, it is inside the Harvest Hollow footprint, wedged among the Bramblewood Bites, Milled and Mulled and Forest and Field booths. For families working the Global Marketplaces, it is the one spot on that stretch where kids can burn energy while the adults are in a booth line, and the acorn seating gives the group somewhere to land afterward.
How it connects to the rest of the festival build-out
The playground is one piece of a park-wide setup that is well underway. Signs have gone up on the returning Global Marketplaces around EPCOT, with some carrying 30th anniversary decorations for booths that have run the full 30 years of the festival. Menus for the festival have since been published, so the remaining unknowns are pricing and the exact opening date for the staggered booths.
The playground should be open before August 27
Disney has not posted a reopening date for the playground, but the work is being done for the festival, which begins August 27, 2026 and runs through November 21. The theming is largely in place and the seating is going back, so the practical expectation is that it reopens with the festival rather than during it. Anyone visiting before then should plan on the pathway behind Refreshment Port still being partly walled.
