Encanto gets its first stage adaptation, only aboard the Disney Believe
Lin-Manuel Miranda announced the first stage adaptation of Encanto, which will play starting in 2027 only aboard Disney Cruise Line's Disney Believe. The show follows Mirabel's journey through live performance, music and dance. A medley of the film's songs followed at the ship's October 7 reveal, but Disney has not named the theater or the cast.

Encanto is coming to the stage for the first time, and only aboard the Disney Believe, Disney Cruise Line's next ship. Lin-Manuel Miranda, who wrote the film's songs, announced the show in a video message during the ship's October 7 reveal livestream.

Mirabel's story, told live
Miranda framed the show around Mirabel's journey and the family at the center of the film.
- The Bruno line. Miranda opened with "Well, I guess we can finally talk about Bruno," a nod to the film's song about the family's estranged uncle.
- Who Mirabel is. Mirabel Madrigal is the film's heroine, the one child in her magical family in Colombia who did not receive a gift.
- Screen to stage. Miranda said Encanto "is making the leap from screen to stage" and that he was "so excited to finally share this."
"The heart of this story, family, joy, and the vibrant culture of Colombia has inspired people around the world, and I can't wait for you to experience it for yourselves," Miranda said.
He described the production as Mirabel's journey coming "alive through live performance, music, and dance," which he called "something really special."
A first taste of the music at the reveal
Performers sang a medley of the film's songs on the reveal stage right after Miranda's video played.
- Introduced by Egan. Susan Egan, the Broadway performer who is godparent of the Disney Destiny, introduced Miranda's video and called him a "friend and fellow Disney Legend."
- Voice of Dolores. The performers included the voice of Dolores, the Madrigal cousin who can hear everything, from the film.
- The set list. The medley drew on "The Family Madrigal," "We Don't Talk About Bruno," "Surface Pressure," "Waiting on a Miracle" and "What Else Can I Do?"
The livestream hosts called Encanto "a story that makes you believe in miracles." Disney did not say whether the medley performers will be part of the shipboard cast.
Where Encanto fits on the ship
The Encanto show joins a theater lineup that also includes a refreshed Tangled musical.
- Tangled alongside. Tangled: The Musical also comes to the ship, with all-new special effects and set designs.
- The ship's stories. Disney says the ship's venues draw on Encanto, Frozen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Moana and The Little Mermaid.
Not announced yet: the theater, the cast and the run time
Beyond the 2027 start and the ship, Disney has released no production details for the show.
- No theater named. Neither the reveal stream nor Miranda's video names the theater where Encanto will play.
- No cast or creatives. No cast, director or creative team was announced, and the video does not say whether Miranda is involved in the stage version.
- No run time. Disney has not given the show's length or how many performances each sailing will carry.
Our take. The only way to see the first stage Encanto will be a four- or five-night Disney Believe sailing from Fort Lauderdale. Bookings open October 19, 2026, and the reveal named neither the theater nor the cast, so fans booking early will be choosing a sailing before they know who is in the show.
