How to track characters in the My Disney Experience app
The app is the most reliable way to see who is out and when. The character list lives inside the park map:
- Tap the map pin at the bottom of the screen.
- Swipe left along the filters at the top and choose Characters.
- Tap Locations to pick the theme park.
- Browse characters on the map, or tap Show List at the bottom right.
- Tap any character to see where they appear and their times for the day.
Greetings you will only find at Animal Kingdom
Rafiki and Timon at the Oasis
The Lion King pair rotates every 30 minutes, starting about an hour after park opening most days. When Rafiki steps away for his meditations, Timon takes over, and he has been known to join guests for a quick dance.
Pocahontas near the bridge to Discovery Island
Head to the right as you enter the Oasis, just before the bridge to Discovery Island. Pocahontas greets guests in a natural, wooded setting that suits her far better than any indoor meet and greet, and it is one of the more distinctive greeting spots at Walt Disney World.
Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde on Discovery Island
Zootopia's crime-fighting duo meets guests at The Gathering Spot near the Tree of Life, just outside Zootopia: Better Zoogether! They rank among the most popular characters in the park, so allow extra time in line if they are on your list.
Russell, Dug, and Kevin on the Discovery Trails
Russell from "Up" makes surprise visits along the Discovery Trails, and those appearances do not always show in the My Disney Experience app. The best chance to find him is to enter the trails to the left of the Tree of Life, just before the bridge to Africa. Kevin and Dug also roam Discovery Island: Kevin's plumage is hard to miss, and if you ask Dug whether he has seen any squirrels, his voice box just might answer.
Bluey and Bingo at Conservation Station
This one is a play session rather than a traditional greeting. Ride the Wildlife Express from Harambe Station, near the exit of Kilimanjaro Safaris, out to Conservation Station. There, kids can dance with Bluey and Bingo and play games from the show, including Magic Asparagus, Keepy Uppy, and the Octopus Game.
Mickey and friends in safari gear
Animal Kingdom is the only park where Mickey Mouse and his pals dress for expedition. Donald Duck and Daisy Duck start the day in safari outfits on the Oasis; after entering the park, head right toward Garden Gate Gifts to find them.
Mickey and Minnie wear khakis and safari hats at Adventurers Outpost near the bridge to Asia. Deeper into the park, turn right after entering Asia to find Goofy and Pluto in their own explorer looks. For character photo collectors, these outfits are the draw: none of them appear at the other three Walt Disney World parks.
