The Franchise Under Disney and 20th Century

The Ice Age series first debuted way back in March 2002, and Boiling Point marks its sixth wooly outing. Production was officially announced by Disney and 20th Century Animation during D23 Brazil in 2024. Notably, it will be the first Ice Age film to reach theaters under Disney's ownership, following the company's 2019 purchase of 21st Century Fox's film and television assets and the subsequent shutdown of Blue Sky Studios in 2021. Blue Sky had been the animation house behind the original films, making this new chapter both a continuation and a fresh start for the herd under a new studio banner.

Ice Age: Boiling Point is directed by John Donkin and produced by Lori Forte. Donkin previously directed The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild, while Forte's producing credits stretch back across the franchise to the original Ice Age and Ice Age: Collision Course.
