Inside the Global Disney Ambassador Program Walt Disney Started in 1965
The Global Disney Ambassador Program selects cast members to represent Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disney Resort, Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland, Aulani and Shanghai Disney Resort at events worldwide. The program began during Disneyland's Tencennial celebration when Walt Disney personally chose tour guide Julie Reihm Casaletto as the first-ever Disney Ambassador.

Guests strolling through any Disney park may spot cast members wearing a special insignia that marks them as part of one of the company's most storied traditions: the Global Disney Ambassador Program. These ambassadors represent thousands of cast members at parks, resorts and experiences around the world.
The Global Disney Ambassador team leads and participates in events, shares cast member stories, spreads Disney magic within their communities and serves as the official spokesperson for their home resort.
A Tradition Born From Disneyland's Tencennial

The program began during the Tencennial Celebration of Disneyland in 1964 and 1965, commemorating the park's first successful decade. It was a whirlwind time for Walt Disney and The Walt Disney Company: Mary Poppins was in theaters, teams were planning "Project X" (later revealed as Walt Disney World Resort), and Walt Disney Imagineering had just designed four attractions for the 1964 New York World's Fair.
Swamped with media requests and event invitations, Walt wanted a Disneyland cast member to help carry the load. The Ambassador would make public appearances, escort dignitaries and VIP Guests, and travel the world promoting Disney ideals.
From Julie Casaletto to a Global Network

The iconic legacy began with Julie Reihm Casaletto, the first-ever Disney Ambassador. Julie started her Disney career as a tour guide at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. Two years later, the role of Disneyland Ambassador was created, and Walt himself chose her to represent the park at global events.
In 1971, Walt Disney World Resort selected its first Disney Ambassador, Debby Dane Browne, extending the tradition to Florida and ultimately across the globe.
