Disney's 'Blockbuster Summer' brings a genre-spanning slate to theaters in 2026: Toy Story 5 (June 19), the live-action Moana (July 10), Super Troopers 3 (August 7), and Ridley Scott's The Dog Stars (August 28). The lineup follows a record-setting box office year for The Walt Disney Studios.

The Walt Disney Company is loading its summer with a genre-spanning theatrical slate, headlined by Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5, the live-action Moana, cult comedy Super Troopers 3, and Ridley Scott's post-apocalyptic thriller The Dog Stars. The lineup anchors a new "Disney Blockbuster Summer" campaign positioning Disney as the season's go-to destination for entertainment.
Summer 2026 Release Calendar
- Toy Story 5 (Disney and Pixar) — June 19
- Moana (Disney live-action) — July 10
- Super Troopers 3 (Searchlight Pictures) — August 7
- The Dog Stars (20th Century Studios) — August 28
Disney's 2026 slate is already making a statement at the global box office. The Walt Disney Studios became the first studio to surpass $2 billion worldwide this year, powered by five releases. Disney and Pixar's Hoppers delivered the biggest domestic debut for an original animated film since Coco (2017), 20th Century Studios' The Devil Wears Prada 2 proved audiences still love Runway, and Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu opened as the No. 1 film in the world — building on The Mandalorian's standing as Disney+'s most-watched Original with more than 1.3 billion hours streamed globally.
Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5 — June 19
For more than 30 years, Toy Story has been one of Disney and Pixar's most beloved franchises. This summer, Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Disney Legend Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack), and the rest of the gang return for an all-new adventure built around the question of what happens when "Toy meets Tech." In Toy Story 5, Bonnie's world is upended by Lilypad (Greta Lee), a tablet device with strong opinions about what kids need most.
The film adds a roster of new voice talent including Craig Robinson, Mykal-Michelle Harris, Shelby Rabara, Matty Matheson, Conan O'Brien, and Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (Bad Bunny). Directed by Academy Award winner Andrew Stanton with a new score by Disney Legend Randy Newman, the film will also feature a brand-new original song, "I Knew It, I Knew You," from 14-time GRAMMY winner Taylor Swift.
Disney's Moana — July 10
The ocean is calling once again. Disney's live-action reimagining of Moana brings the beloved animated classic to a new generation, with Catherine Laga'aia stepping into the title role alongside future Disney Legend Dwayne Johnson as the demigod Maui. Since debuting in 2016, Moana has become one of Disney's most enduring modern franchises, and Moana 2 joined the ranks of most-streamed films after its Disney+ debut last year. Directed by Emmy and Tony winner Thomas Kail, the film features new music from future Disney Legend Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa'i, and Mark Mancina.
Searchlight Pictures' Super Troopers 3 — August 7
The Broken Lizard crew returns with Super Troopers 3, the long-awaited next chapter in the cult comedy franchise. When Farva's wildly over-the-top engagement to Thorny's sister spirals into chaos, the troopers must navigate Thorny's schemes to break up the relationship while cracking a new drug ring. The film is directed by Jay Chandrasekhar, who reprises Thorny alongside the rest of the troupe: Kevin Heffernan (Farva), Steve Lemme (Mac), Paul Soter (Foster), and Erik Stolhanske (Rabbit).
20th Century Studios' The Dog Stars — August 28
Ridley Scott drops audiences into a brutal, post-apocalyptic world led by an acclaimed ensemble: Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong, and Allison Janney. Based on Peter Heller's bestselling novel, The Dog Stars follows young pilot Hig (Elordi) and military survivalist Bangley (Brolin), who set out on a dangerous journey after a mysterious radio transmission hints that they may not be alone after all.
What's Coming Beyond Summer
The momentum continues into fall. Before Marvel Studios' Avengers: Doomsday arrives December 18, fans can prepare with a limited theatrical re-release of Avengers: Endgame on September 25. 20th Century Studios dives into deep-sea suspense with Whalefall on October 16, followed by Searchlight Pictures' Wild Horse Nine on November 6 — directed by Martin McDonagh and starring John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell. Walt Disney Animation Studios also returns with the original adventure Hexed on November 25.
