Ahsoka Season 2 Confirmed for Early 2027 With Rory McCann Taking Over as Baylan Skoll

Rosario Dawson took the stage at the Disney Upfront today to confirm that Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 will arrive on Disney+ in early 2027, with creator Dave Filoni back at the helm and a sizzle reel previewing what Lucasfilm is calling its biggest space battles yet.

"The Battles Are Bigger and the Stakes Are Higher"

Dawson made the announcement alongside the iconic Chopper droid, sharing a sizzle reel and behind-the-scenes images with media in attendance. The footage promised expanded space combat and lightsaber duels that pick up where the show's first season — and the wider Heir to the Empire arc — left off.

"It's truly special seeing all the love from fans out there for Ahsoka and her crew. I can tell you this season, the battles are bigger and the stakes are higher. We cannot wait for you to see."

The Season 2 Cast: Familiar Faces and One Major Addition

The original ensemble is largely back together. Rosario Dawson reprises Ahsoka Tano, with Natasha Liu Bordizzo returning as Sabine Wren, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, and Hayden Christensen back as Anakin Skywalker. Ivanna Sakhno is once again playing the dark-side mercenary Shin Hati.

The headline addition: Rory McCann — best known as Sandor "The Hound" Clegane from Game of Thrones — joins the cast to continue the story of Baylan Skoll following Ray Stevenson's death between seasons. McCann's casting closes out one of the most-watched recasting decisions in modern Star Wars.

What This Means for Disney+ and the Mandoverse

Ahsoka Season 1 premiered in August 2023 and quickly became one of the connective threads of Lucasfilm's so-called Mandoverse, weaving plot points from Star Wars Rebels, The Mandalorian, and Tales of the Jedi into the live-action timeline. With The Mandalorian & Grogu hitting theaters this month and the Heir to the Empire film still on the horizon under Filoni's direction, Season 2 of Ahsoka is positioned as the bridge between the streaming era and Lucasfilm's next theatrical chapter. Expect more reveals — including a specific release date — in the months leading up to the early 2027 premiere.
