Marvel Rivals Season 8 Patch Notes: Devil Dinosaur Joins the Roster May 15

Marvel Rivals kicks off Season 8 on May 15, 2026, and NetEase is bringing one of Marvel's most unexpected heroes to the fight: Devil Dinosaur is stomping onto the roster. Alongside the new hero, players get a fresh Battle Pass called Project: Heroic Age, a season-long Hide and Seek event starring Lunella's prehistoric partner, a meaningful Loki nerf, and an expanded in-game Esports hub timed to the start of IGNITE Stage 1.

Season 8 Launch Details

Devil Dinosaur Stomps Into the Roster

Season 8 is built around the Timestream Entanglement — NetEase's framing for what they're calling the heartfelt reunion of two best friends and the fiery return of true lovers. Translation for fans: Lunella Lafayette (Moon Girl) is reunited with Devil Dinosaur, the T-rex from Earth-78411 who's been a comics fan favorite since debuting in 1978 and getting a major modern boost from Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

Two new story beats roll out alongside the hero: a new serial titled Sins of Alchemax, and Devil Dinosaur lore called The Devil in the Details.

Project: Heroic Age Battle Pass and the Hide and Seek Event

The Season 8 Battle Pass — Project: Heroic Age — packs 10 brand-new sets of heroic costumes. NetEase is highlighting three headliners: Rogue - Starlit Rebel, Jeff the Land Shark - Devil Landshark, and Gambit - Barrier Buster.

The flagship seasonal activity is Devil Dino Hide and Seek, in which Lunella enlists players to follow Devil Dinosaur's massive footprints across timelines. Completing missions awards Units, Chrono Tokens, Gallery Cards, and more.

Esports Hub Gets a Major Upgrade for IGNITE Stage 1

NetEase is wiring the IGNITE Stage 1 broadcast directly into the game. The in-game Esports tab now serves live streams, battle notifications, real-time VOD replays, advanced combat analytics, and team and player dossiers. Based on Season 7 feedback, three new features are landing:

The Marvel Rivals Championship (MRC) also returns for Season 8. Open Qualifiers reward every Faction with Units and exclusive loot, and the top 4 Factions per designated region — plus the highest combined Champion Points 26 holders from Seasons 7 and 8 — earn a slot at the Ignite Series 2026 Mid-Season Qualifiers, where they'll fight Stage 1 Pro League teams for a Stage 2 Pro League seat.

Fixes and Optimizations: Loki Gets the TVA Treatment

The patch's most consequential balance change is a hefty Loki nerf in both modes:

Loki Balance Changes

A bug that left players permanently suspended in mid-air or stuck in anomalous KO states after Loki's mind control has also been resolved.

The Blood Hunt mode gets three fixes: Jeff the Land Shark eliminations with bubbles now correctly grant charge restoration, several map clipping and out-of-bounds bugs are patched, and Thor's Final Storm now properly consumes Awakening Rune duration instead of extending it when multiple Ultimate Storm Enhancements were stacked.

Hero-specific fixes: Black Widow's Mrs. Barnes costume now has its missing firing SFX restored, and Captain America's shield will more reliably block Spell Field damage when raised mid-jump.

What This Means for Marvel Rivals Players

Season 8 is the kind of update that gives almost every player a reason to log in: a brand-new hero with a strong comics hook, a sweeping Battle Pass, a season event tied directly to that hero, real esports infrastructure inside the client, and one of the most-requested balance changes of the year in the Loki nerf. If you've been on the fence about Marvel Rivals, May 15 is the cleanest jump-in point of 2026 so far.
