MARVEL Contest of Champions Celebrates Pride with the 'Sparkle and Shade' Event and Two New Champions

Marvel Contest of Champions kicks off Pride Month with the Sparkle and Shade Event, welcoming new Champions Shatterstar and Phyla-Vell to The Contest. Running June 1 through July 1, the event features weekly solo objectives, collectable 3-Star Pride Champions, exclusive emotes and profile pics, and America Chavez Action Figures for higher-tier Summoners.

Pride Month arrives in The Battlerealm as Marvel Contest of Champions launches its Sparkle and Shade Event, a month-long celebration of love in all its forms — and the debut of two new fighters, Shatterstar and Phyla-Vell, joining The Contest.

Sparkle, Shade, and Everything in Between

As the announcement puts it, "There are many types of love in The Battlerealm — some sparkle while others shade, and all of them are wonderful in their own way." The event leans into that theme, welcoming both the glow of sunshine and the cool of shadow with a slate of objectives and rewards built around celebration and self-expression.

Weekly Objectives and New Arrivals

Special Sparkle and Shade Weekly Solo Objectives are active for the duration of the event and call for specific Champions to complete. To help, players receive Collectable 3-Star Pride Champions, including new arrivals Shatterstar and Phyla-Vell. Clearing all weekly objectives adds new emotes to your collection — note that you must be Proven or higher to use emotes in Battlegrounds.

Summoners who have reached Uncollected or higher can also earn America Chavez Action Figures, bringing that multiverse-punching powerhouse closer to joining the roster.

Milestones and Profile Flair

To keep both your Sparkle and Shade rosters growing, Reward Milestones feature Progression Title-tuned Nexus Crystals. Players can also collect this year's exclusive Pride Profile Pics, and additional profile pictures from previous years will be available for free in the Store during the event for anyone who missed them.

What This Means for Summoners

Beyond the new Champions, Sparkle and Shade is one of the more rewarding recurring events on the Contest calendar, stacking emotes, crystals, and Action Figure progress into a single month. With objectives rotating weekly, it pays to log in early and plan around the required Champions.
