Bishop Gets a New Solo Series From Saladin Ahmed and Mario Santoro
Marvel Comics launches a new five-issue Bishop limited series this June by writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Mario Santoro. The time-traveling X-Man reunites with his sister Shard to face the Final Brotherhood, a new group of villains from his dark future.
This June, Bishop, the X-Men's iconic time-traveling mutant, headlines a new five-issue limited series from Marvel Comics by superstar writer Saladin Ahmed and acclaimed artist Mario Santoro.
Bishop, the energy-absorbing powerhouse X-Man, hails from one of mutantkind's darkest futures. In BISHOP, that future comes back to bite. Ahmed (Wolverine) and newcomer Santoro (Storm) pit Lucas Bishop against the Final Brotherhood, a new group of villains originating from his future who journey to the present to end his time in this era once and for all.
A Sibling Reunion Across Time
To stop them and prevent further disruption of the timeline, Bishop teams up with his sister Shard, a fan-favorite character from 1990s X-Factor and previous Bishop solo runs whose tragic fate has haunted Bishop ever since. Similar to recently launched solo X-titles like Rogue (2025) and Cyclops (2026), the new series promises a thrilling, standalone saga that encapsulates the heart and history of the character while putting him through his most challenging and legacy-defining missions yet.
The Time-Lost X-Man Is Back
Bishop has always lived by a strict code. But that code will get called into question when Shard is sent to the present right before she died. Will Bishop adhere to his principles and protect the timestream? Or will he risk it all to save the most important person in his life?
"I'm having a blast doing a deep dive into the dark corners of Lucas Bishop's time-travel traumatized mind. I'm a writer who loves both family drama and spectacle, so getting to juxtapose the big visual comic book elements of temporal warping and explosive powers with the quiet pain and joy of sibling relationships is my happy place," Saladin Ahmed said.
"When I drew issues of Storm (2024), I also had the pleasure of drawing Bishop, and I really enjoyed doing it. I never imagined that I would get a chance to draw an incredible solo adventure for the character," Mario Santoro added.
Ahmed added that "Mario Santoro's pages for this are a thrill, including some INSANE designs for our new 'hybrid' mutant villains, the Final Brotherhood."
