Step Inside a Life-Size Disney Doll Box: New Plastic-Free Photo Op Debuts at Disney Springs
A walk-in Rapunzel and Tiana doll box experience has arrived at Disney Springs from April 6-26, celebrating Disney's new 100% plastic-free Classic Doll packaging. The redesign will eliminate over 110,000 pounds of plastic per year as part of Disney Planet Possible.

A pair of larger-than-life Classic Doll boxes — featuring Rapunzel and Tiana — have just landed at Disney Springs, and yes, guests can actually step inside them. Running from April 6 through April 26, the immersive photo op marks the debut of Disney's brand-new 100% plastic-free Classic Doll packaging, just in time for Earth Month.
Step Inside a Real-Life Disney Doll Box
The towering displays are direct, scaled-up replicas of Disney's redesigned Classic Doll packaging, and they invite Walt Disney World guests to literally become the star of the story. Visitors can pose solo, drop in with friends and family, or capture the moment with help from a Disney PhotoPass photographer stationed at the experience. It's a rare chance to step inside a piece of Disney merchandising itself — and a reminder that even product packaging can be part of the show.

Designed for Play — and the Planet
This isn't just a clever photo moment. The new Classic Doll packaging will help Disney avoid the use of more than 110,000 pounds of plastic per year — roughly the weight of 11 elephants compared with the 2020 packaging design. The boxes are also produced from certified, sustainably sourced paper, and the redesign restores direct visibility to the doll itself rather than burying it behind layers of plastic.
"At Disney, we always start with the story — creating authentic character experiences that resonate with guests and fans. Our packaging is where that story begins. With our Classic Doll packaging, we saw an opportunity to rethink the guest experience through the lens of both sustainability and design," said Stefanie Majoras, Vice President of Global Merchandise Sourcing and Supply Chain Optimization at Disney.
Fifteen Princesses, Plastic-Free
The plastic-free packaging is now rolling out across 15 Disney characters, with more on the way later this year. The current lineup spans nearly every era of Disney animation:
- Elsa, Anna, and Ariel
- Aurora, Belle, and Cinderella
- Jasmine, Merida, and Moana
- Mulan, Pocahontas, and Rapunzel
- Snow White, Tiana, and Tinker Bell
The redesigned dolls are available at select Disney stores and Disney Parks locations across North America, as well as on DisneyStore.eu and DisneyStore.com.au.
Part of a Bigger Disney Planet Possible Push
The doll box photo op is one piece of Disney Planet Possible, the company's long-running sustainability initiative. April also marks the 30th anniversary of the Disney Conservation Fund, which Disney is celebrating by spotlighting 30 biodiversity and environmental sustainability stories in a countdown to Earth Day. For Disney Springs guests, though, the takeaway is simpler: stop by between now and April 26, snap a photo, and walk away knowing the package you'd take home has 110,000 fewer pounds of plastic behind it.
