Meet Ginger: The Disney Treasure's Halloween Pumpkin Tree

The Disney Treasure introduces Ginger, a one-of-a-kind enchanted pumpkin tree rooted in the Grand Hall during Halloween on the High Seas sailings — the first such seasonal event ever held aboard the ship. Designed with Aladdin-inspired elongated gourds and an interactive lighting ceremony called The Tale of the Enchanted Pumpkin Tree, Ginger joins a fleet of six named Halloween trees across the Disney Cruise Line fleet. The 2025 Halloween on the High Seas dates for the Disney Treasure run from September 20 through October 25, departing Port Canaveral.

Meet Ginger: The Disney Treasure's Halloween Pumpkin Tree

The Disney Treasure is hosting its first-ever Halloween on the High Seas season in fall 2025, and anchoring the celebrations is Ginger — an exclusive enchanted pumpkin tree displayed in the ship's Grand Hall. Designed with Agrabah-inspired elongated gourds and carvings tied to the transformations of the Genie from Disney's Aladdin, Ginger brings a new seasonal tradition to the newest vessel in the fleet.

Key Details

Ginger's Aladdin-Inspired Design

Unlike the traditionally gnarled, Sleepy Hollow-style pumpkin trees on the older Disney ships, Ginger draws her visual identity from the fictional city of Agrabah as seen in Disney's Aladdin. Disney Live Entertainment Show Director Philip Kelley described the tree's evolution from early concept to final installation: "She started out as sort of a banyan tree, and then more of a traditional tree with banyan tree inspiration." Over the development process, the gourds elongated to better reflect the gourd varieties of the Middle Eastern-inspired region — looking like traditional pumpkins, but stretched into shapes more consistent with what travelers might encounter there.

The carvings on Ginger's glowing gourds are specifically inspired by the many comedic and spectacular transformations of the Genie, tying the Halloween centerpiece directly to the Aladdin theming of the Disney Treasure.

The Tale of the Enchanted Pumpkin Tree

On the first night of each Halloween on the High Seas sailing, guests are invited to participate in The Tale of the Enchanted Pumpkin Tree in the Grand Hall. The ship's resident storytellers, Coriander and Sage, discover that a tree has seemingly sprouted overnight in the hall and recount Ginger's origin story — including how she came to understand Halloween traditions, which are unfamiliar in Agrabah.

Philip Kelley shared the full narrative arc: "Halloween traditions are unfamiliar in her part of the world, so our storytellers, Coriander and Sage, introduce her to the fun of trick-or-treating. Together, they discover the joy of transformation and find that at this time of year, things aren't always what they seem." Guests who join the ceremony and help Ginger grasp the spirit of trick-or-treating trigger a lighting event throughout the Grand Hall, after which Ginger glows for the remainder of the voyage.

The Full Fleet of Halloween Trees

Every ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet has its own named pumpkin tree for Halloween on the High Seas. Each tree carries a distinct personality and backstory:

Reap, Bog, Grim, and Muckelbones — The Original Four

The Halloween trees aboard the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy take the form of classically spooky, gnarled trees — the kind one might imagine lining a dirt road in Sleepy Hollow on a cold October night. These four are inspired by the spirit of Ray Bradbury's The Halloween Tree. Each is tended by a mysterious caretaker who recounts chilling Halloween lore as guests gather beneath the glowing canopy. When the ship departs, the trees "awaken" — Jack-O'-Lanterns flicker to life, eerie lights dance through the branches, and a deep haunting voice fills the atrium.

Boo — The Wish's Star-Blessed Tree

Boo, the enchanted pumpkin tree aboard the Disney Wish, is said to have been blessed by the Wishing Star to grow extraordinary carved gourds. According to the in-universe legend told onboard, one of Boo's pumpkins grew to become the carriage that carried Cinderella to the ball — a storyline that connects the Halloween tradition directly to the Disney Wish's princess theming.
